Job summary

New Prague Area Schools in Minnesota is seeking a part-time school bus driver to operate am and pm routes for students in the New Prague area. The district serves about 4,100 students and is located roughly 45 miles southwest of the Twin Cities.

The role requires a valid Minnesota Class D license and the ability to obtain a school bus and passenger endorsement, along with a drug/alcohol test and completion of driver training. Training will be provided by the district.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license (Class D) and insurable driving record.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with a school bus and passenger endorsement.
• Ability to pass a federally mandated drug/alcohol screen.
• Successful completion of the school driver training programs and courses established by the state and/or school district.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus and transport students safely and efficiently over assigned routes.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections; follow safety regulations and policies.
• Enforce student discipline on the bus and communicate with dispatch as needed.
• Work approximately 6.25 hours per day on student contact days.
• Training will be provided to obtain a school bus driver’s license.

This position is for an am and pm to/from school bus route.

Approximately 6.25 hrs/day, student contact days.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for operating a school bus and transporting school-aged children and other authorized personnel safely and efficiently over specified routes to and from schools and various activities. Conducts pre-trip inspections; observes safety regulations and policies; enforces student discipline on the bus.

WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

Education/Certification/Licensure:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license (Class D) and acceptable driving record for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier, and to meet state requirements
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License with a school bus and passenger endorsement
• Ability to pass a federally mandated drug/alcohol screen
• Successful completion of the school driver training programs and courses established by the state and/or school district

Applicant must have a good driving record, be able to pass a drug and alcohol test, and pass a background check. Applicant must also be dependable with a good work ethic. Training will be provided to acquire a school bus drivers license.
