Job summary

West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Transportation Accountant/Auditor to perform professional accounting duties in the Budget and Revenue section. You will make basic journal entries, monitor budgets and expenditure schedules, adjust general ledger accounts, and analyze financial statements for compliance with accounting guidelines.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least 24 semester hours, plus one year of professional accounting experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university and at least 24 semester hours in accounting.
• One year of full-time or equivalent accounting experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for the required experience; CPA/public accountant certification may substitute for training/experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform journal entries and monitor budgets and expenditure schedules.
• Prepare financial statements and analyze reports for compliance with accounting guidelines.
• Maintain appropriate accounting records and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Independently interpret policies with supervisor review and direction as needed.
