Job summary

Amazon in Loveland, CO is hiring for a yard driver in a dynamic transportation role. You will move trailers, load/unload using approved equipment, and ensure timely departures with strict safety adherence.

Applicants must be 21+, hold a valid license, and be able to work flexible shifts. Training and CDL support may be provided by Amazon as part of growth within transportation operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate yard equipment to move trailers to/from docks and parking locations.
  • Ensure on-time arrival/departure of trailers with zero defects.
  • Perform driver vehicle inspections and report issues.
  • Follow DOT regulations and Amazon safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate hours, breaks, and shift logs.

Responsibilities
  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations. Follow and enforce safety measures and policies for all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members.
  • Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies and procedures related to those regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.).
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks in compliance with Amazon policy and federal/state regulations; adhere to yard safety policies and traffic laws; drive in accordance with weather and road conditions.
  • Support the business as needed by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (e.g., pallet jack).

CDL/DQF Requirement (If Applicable)

If requested due to business need, Transportation Associates must obtain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF) and utilize it as a condition of the role, paid for by Amazon. If required to drive Over-the-Road for Amazon, this position becomes regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and FMCSA. Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license for their state of residence and be eligible to drive under DOT requirements. For roles with CDL, English proficiency is required per federal regulation. The timing of this requirement depends on business need, and continuation in the role with CDL/DQF is contingent upon successful completion of a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening, a DOT physical, and Amazon’s pre-employment drug test.

Basic Qualifications
  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Candidates must be 21 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach and ascend/descend stairs
  • Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • "Are 21 years of age or older" and able to understand and adhere to all job requirements in English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences
  • Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Completion of Career Choice CDL Course

The starting pay for this position is listed below including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
