Distinct | North America is seeking a Transportation and General Liability Attorney for Sacramento with remote or hybrid work options. You will defend clients in transportation and general liability matters, from single incidents to fleets, and handle all phases of litigation.
You will manage your own caseload, take depositions, and participate in hearings, with support from a national litigation team for large matters. Salary ranges reflect level and experience.
Transportation and General Liability Attorney | Remote or Hybrid, Sacramento | $150,000 to $275,000 and up
Most semi trucks on American roads are white. Fleets buy white because it's cheaper to paint, it stays cooler in the sun, it sells on more easily, and when the company gets bought you can put the new logo on the door without anyone seeing the old one underneath. There's a lovely forest green in a paint catalog that a fleet manager once held up to the window, thought about for a good while, and put back in the drawer.
So the trucks are white. The trailers are white. The cab in the photo exhibits is white, the cab in the police diagram is a white rectangle, and by the time a case reaches mediation everyone in the room has looked at so much white truck that the mediator's shirt starts to disappear into the wall.
You'd be the one defending them. It's transportation and general liability work out of Sacramento, everything from a single car to a whole fleet, for clients carrying retentions so large they go through your reports line by line. The crash lasts six seconds or so and lands on your desk a year and a half later as the ECM download, the maintenance file, the driver logs and four different versions of what happened at the intersection. You'd run your own caseload, take the depositions and do the hearings, and when a case gets enormous there's a national litigation team in it with you.
Remote or hybrid, and full time or part time, so pick whichever of the four suits. Plenty of litigators would love a four day week and assume asking for one ends their career. Here it's on the menu.
Pay goes by level, plus bonus:
Two or more years of civil litigation and the California Bar gets you through the door.
The trucks will still be white whenever you get around to it.
