Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Transportation Analyst I to provide daily operational and analytical support for the transportation network. You will coordinate shipments, support carrier performance, resolve service issues, and drive cost and quality improvements using Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.

In this role you’ll partner across functions to optimize routing, manage freight claims, and deliver fact‑based recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation, operations, logistics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Ability to extract, organize, manipulate, and interpret transportation data.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with practical recommendations.
• Effective written and verbal communication with carriers, suppliers, customers, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities (scheduling, routing, booking, tracking, expediting, delivery follow-up).
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Supply Planning, Sourcing, Service, Manufacturing, Sales, Distribution and carriers.
• Monitor daily shipment activity and resolve issues with carriers and stakeholders.
• Provide freight quotes and secure carrier capacity for expedited or special shipments.
• Evaluate requests for expedited shipments and suggest cost‑efficient options; escalate excess costs for approval.
• Develop routing guides and transport compliance standards balancing service, quality, and cost.
• Analyze freight data to identify noncompliance, gaps, and cost drivers.
• Track carrier performance across transport modes and escalate recurring issues.
• Manage freight claims including submission, documentation, and follow-up.
• Research and resolve transportation issues with carriers and network partners.
• Support freight payment exception resolution and ensure accurate transportation charges.
• Lead or support data‑driven cost mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide coverage and support for the Transportation Manager as needed.

Job description

The Transportation Analyst I provides day‑day operational and analytical support for Milwaukee Tool’s transportation network. Serving as a first point of contact for transportation‑related needs. This role coordinates inbound and outbound shipments, supports carrier performance and compliance, resolves service issues, manages freight claims, carrier invoice payment exceptions, and identifies opportunities to improve quality, service, and costs. The analyst partners across the organization to deliver reliable transportation solutions and uses data to support fact‑based decisions and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, AI tools, and PowerPoint.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities, including shipment scheduling, routing, booking, tracking, expediting, and delivery follow‑up.
• Partner cross‑functionally with Supply Planning, Sourcing, Service, Manufacturing, Sales, Merchandising, Distribution, suppliers, and carriers to support business and customer requirements.
• Monitor daily shipment activity and proactively resolve lost, misrouted, delayed, or damaged freight with carriers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide freight quotes and secure carrier capacity for expedited, ad hoc, and special shipment requests.
• Evaluate expedited shipment requests and recommend the most cost‑effective service option; esc??ale excess‑cost transactions for appropriate approval.
• Develop and maintain routing guides, supplier requirements, and transportation compliance standards that balance service, quality, and cost objectives.
• Analyze freight and routing data to identify noncompliance, service gaps, cost drivers, and process‑improvement opportunities.
• Track carrier performance across transportation modes, communicate results, and esc??ale recurring service issues for corrective action.
• Manage freight claims, including claim submission, documentation, follow‑up, and recovery tracking.
• Research and resolve transportation‑related customer issues in collaboration with carriers and the broader distribution network.
• Support freight payment exception resolution and help ensure transportation charges are accurate and appropriately documented.
• Lead or support data‑driven cost mitigation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Provide operational coverage and support for the Transportation Manager as needed.

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

• 0-2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or a related operational environment preferred. Bachelor’s degree in transportation, operations, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered.
• Ability to extract, organize, manipulate, and interpret transportation and operational data.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with carriers, suppliers, customers, and internal business partners.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to time‑sensitive issues, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and contribute within a one‑team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
