Job summary

Dealer Tire is seeking an experienced Transportation/Logistics Leader to direct daily transportation activities across the company’s network. You will collaborate with Distribution Centers, carriers, and field teams to meet service and cost goals, and you'll develop carrier partnerships to optimize routes and costs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least five years in logistics, experience with parcel shipping, and proficiency with JD Edwards and MS Office.

Qualifications

• At least five years of strong hands-on experience in logistics and/or transportation including daily operations.
• Experience with parcel shipping and specialized regional courier delivery carriers preferred.
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Software experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards and MS Office.

Job description

Base Pay Range: $71,604.00 – $85,680.00

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate daily transportation activities across the company’s network, collaborating with Distribution Centers, carriers, corporate and field teams to achieve service and cost goals.
• Monitor and resolve carrier performance issues.
• Follow processes and procedures to achieve company goals efficiently.
• Build strong relationships with carriers to negotiate rates, conduct lead meetings, communicate expectations and hold carriers accountable for KPIs.
• Ensure on‑time customer delivery by carriers and meet transportation budget expectations.
• Manage service and cost metrics, maintain transportation plan to minimize cost and achieve customer service targets.
• Participate in the development and selection of current and new carriers to meet customer requirements.
• Maintain schedules, service levels, carrier preferences and rates for customer service.
• Audit freight accounts with Finance to ensure accurate payments, accruals, and GL coding.
• Drive continuous process improvement through root cause analysis and develop improved operational and strategic approaches.
• Create and maintain SOPs for transportation.
• Provide guidance to Distribution Center and Inventory Management teams on transportation matters.
• Create executive‑level reporting to communicate trends and recommend cost savings or service improvements with ROI analysis.
• Utilize routing tools to optimize routes for vehicle, labor, and fuel efficiency.
• Analyze alternative transportation options and recommend best solutions balancing cost and service.
• Participate in service improvements to increase reliability, reduce transit time and/or delivery cost.
• Lead continuous improvement projects; contribute to network design initiatives; support new carrier selection processes, bid management, and cost/benefit analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least five years of strong hands‑on experience in logistics and/or transportation including daily operations.
• Experience with parcel shipping and specialized regional courier delivery carriers (co‑ops) preferred.
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Software experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, vehicle routing tools and other related tools.
• Proficient with MS Office (Access, Excel, Word) and Internet.
• Excellent analytical skills.

Physical Job Requirements

• Travel via air and automobile (10%).
