Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Bakersfield, CA seeks a Patient Transporter to move patients and medical supplies across the medical center. The role requires safe patient handling, adherence to policies, and timely communication with clinical teams.

Six months of transport or hospital care experience is required, with High School Diploma or GED. BLS certification within 1 month of hire is mandatory; Nursing Aide certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and oral directions with clear communication.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire. Lead nursing aide certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by wheelchair or gurney throughout the Medical Center.
• Pickup and deliver routine and STAT laboratory specimens, blood, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist with transport tasks as needed and per policy; transport soiled equipment to Central Processing.
• Perform CPR and respond to Code Blue pages as required; support care settings as directed.

Job Summary:

Under immediate supervision, transports patients, medical equipment, laboratory specimens and supplies within all areas of the medical center.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente Policies and Procedures, Code of Ethical Conduct-Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Transports patients (pre-operative, post-operative, Hemodialysis etc.) by wheelchair or gurney within the Medical Center. Picks up routine and STAT requests for laboratory specimens, blood, equipment, supplies, and other appropriate materials (medical or other) including data reports on regular routes or as required and delivers to appropriate location within facility. May assist with transport activities, as needed, and in accordance with organizational policy and the care setting. Picks up soiled patient equipment and supplies from Nursing units and transports to Central Processing. Transports equipment as requested. Performs CPR and responds to Code Blue Pages as necessary. Performs other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Six (6) months previous experience in general patient care/hospital transportation.
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral directions. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
