TxDOT Fort Worth District is looking for a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief for the Northwest Tarrant County Maintenance Office.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to be part of our Transportation Maintenance team. As a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating a maintenance crew performing a wide variety of roadway maintenance and repair activities, including roadway upkeep, traffic control, emergency response, and infrastructure maintenance within our area. This position requires strong leadership skills, a great spirit of teamwork, and a strong willingness to learn.

Salary / Grade: Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief: A21 / $54,278 - $87,046 annually

This position is for one (1) Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators performing skilled transportation maintenance activities. Reports to a maintenance section supervisor and assists in administration of the maintenance section. Work requires responding to emergency notification on an as needed basis. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

• Assists during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and
  organize response of crews.
• Assists in administration of the maintenance section.
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments.
• Inspects roads while in route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors.
• Inspects work performed by maintenance contractors.
