Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is hiring a solid waste transport driver to move waste from transfer stations to landfills following a designated route. You will operate the assigned vehicle safely, maintain equipment, and complete accurate logs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Texas Class A CDL, and at least three years of CDL experience. Outdoor work and stringent safety guidelines are part of the daily routine.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the transport of solid waste from a Transfer Station to the landfill following a designated route. The driver is responsible for the safe operation, care and appearance of assigned vehicle.

Job Responsibilities

• Transport solid waste to designated site.
• Monitor condition of mechanical equipment and notify appropriate shop personnel of needed repairs or any operational problems including proper Pre and Post trip inspections.
• Observe all safety guidelines and policies as initiated by the NTMWD.
• Responsible for maintaining thorough and complete process records and logs and good housekeeping.
• May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations as directed by supervisor.
• Work may vary depending on task requirements and volume and may include general site cleanup.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License and good driving record.
• Minimum of three years prior experience in the operation of Class A CDL vehicles.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of tools (screwdriver, wrench, etc.) and how to use them.
• Must possess the ability to use e-mail, internet, smart phone, Tablet.

Environmental and Physical Working Conditions

Driving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver' s license of their resident state. Work conditions primarily include outdoor activities but may vary from indoor to outdoor. Outdoor activities may involve exposure to odor, hot, cold, dusty, dirty, and/or noisy conditions. Activities may require sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, picking up trash, pushing, pulling, carrying, dragging up to 75 pounds of equipment. Work may vary depending on task requirements.
