Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Siting & Outreach Manager to coordinate regional siting and outreach efforts for Transmission projects. You will build relationships with landowners and officials, supervise regional team members, and provide regulatory support including testimony.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and six years of relevant experience, with occasional travel. You will work on-site in Corpus Christi or Austin, TX, reporting to the Siting & Outreach

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, landscape architecture, planning, business, public relations, public affairs, environmental science or related field.
• Six years of experience in outreach, utilities, corporate communications, siting, operations, engineering, environmental or related field.
• Excellent written, organizational, presentation, oral communication and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects; may require extended hours and some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Engages in developing strategies and best practices to meet AEP Transmission business objectives and line routing success.
• Develops policies, practices and standards for siting and ensures projects comply with regulations; provide testimony when necessary.
• Identify and develop siting/outreach strategies, tools, and approaches with landowners.
• Represent AEP Transmission to external affairs teams and educate the public about proposed transmission projects.
• Direct and approve siting/outreach strategies to improve two-way communication and line routing success at the project level.
• Oversee outsourcing activities related to siting/outreach.
• Collaborate with External Affairs, Environmental Services, Project Management, Right of Way, and Engineering on project aspects.
• Foster strategic relationships and initiatives reflecting AEP values with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage project outreach/siting specialists and project workflow for competitive and non-competitive projects.
