Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Scoping & Estimating Engineer to develop project scopes and estimates for Transmission Line and Substation projects. You will work with engineers, drafters, and designers to deliver detailed scopes from initial request through construction support.

The role requires a BS in engineering, FE certificate preferred, and 2+ years of engineering experience. Travel to project locations across the service area is expected; strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• FE or PE credentials are preferred.
• 2+ years of engineering experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze technical project documents to develop conceptual estimates including materials, labor, and equipment considerations.
• Determine factors of production influencing costs and document scope risks.
• Develop project plan and identify key materials and contractor resources with durations.
• Review estimates for adequacy and update as required.
• Ensure all designs meet FirstEnergy standards and safety requirements.
• Support project teams and communicate goals to stakeholders.
