Job summary

Xcel Energy in Amarillo, TX, is seeking a senior leader to direct the Transmission Asset Management/Planning group. You will steer transmission planning analyses, influence regional strategies, and develop a rigorous, risk-based investment plan aligned with reliability standards.

The role requires 10+ years in transmission planning/engineering, with strong leadership and communication skills, and willingness to collaborate with regulators, utilities, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• At least 10 years in transmission planning/engineering/operations.
• Minimum 4 years in supervisory roles overseeing complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of FERC/NERC/State Utility Commissions and WECC/MAPP/SPP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Leads and provides vision for development of short and long term system models and plans to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Develops and implements transmission asset management/planning strategies with stakeholders.
• Leads TAM participation on project teams and prepares regulatory filings and studies.
• Provides leadership and training for personnel handling local and regional planning.
• Represents the company in local/regional/national organizations and discusses regulatory matters.
