Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking an experienced Engineer to design and oversee complex transmission projects in Arizona, applying NESC codes and engineering standards. You will join the T&D Overhead Design team alongside senior transmission and distribution engineers to execute capital and maintenance projects at medium and transmission voltage levels.

Job description

The T&D Overhead Design team is looking for an experienced Engineer with knowledge in the design of complex transmission projects, utilizing NESC code and applicable industry standards. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced transmission and distribution engineers to execute capital and maintenance projects at the medium and transmission voltage levels in Arizona. It’s an exciting time to work for APS as we experience record growth in our Transmission sector which entails upgrading existing transmission lines, designing new EHV line projects, EHV interconnections, and large customer-driven projects. A four-year Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET-accredited institution plus five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions. Approved Engineer degrees Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Structural. (A four-year Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge, or Qualifications:

• Problem analysis/resolution techniques. Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.
• Experience in the energy industry or a consulting services environment. Relevant experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-TOWER, and AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Experience using RISA-3D and/or STAAD for structural analysis and design.
