Job summary

Welty Energy is seeking a Transmission Line Estimator to join our growing Energy team. This role offers remote possibilities within the mainland United States and operates on ET hours.

Responsibilities include creating schedules, developing scopes of work, and producing detailed estimates for 25kV–765kV projects. Collaborative work with design teams and regional stakeholders is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field advantageous.
• 2+ years of transmission design or estimating experience in the electric utility industry is required.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary project schedules considering lead times, crews, construction durations, siting, etc.
• Write Scope of Work for conceptual/pre-funding approval projects.
• Collaborate with internal transmission layout teams for preliminary designs.
• Create and review estimates.
• Work on projects involving 25kV-765kV transmission equipment.
• Review and aid supplemental support estimates (forestry, SCADA/IT, fiber, testing).
• Coordinate with scoping and estimating team members, planning and protection engineering, sponsors, regional contacts, and staff.
• Attend regional meetings to review status of open estimates.
• Review/approve/reject estimate requests in OPPM.
• Build accurate project schedule timelines for substations and support estimates.

Welty Energy & Infrastructure (WE&I) is looking for an Transmission Line Estimator to join our growing Energy team.

This position can be remote in the mainland United States, operating in ET hours.

As a Tranmission Line Estimator, You May

• Create preliminary project schedules considering lead times, crews, construction durations, siting etc.
• Write Scope of Work for conceptual/pre-funding approval projects.
• Work with internal transmission layout teams for preliminary transmission designs.
• Create and review estimates.
• Work on projects involving 25kV-765kV Utility Power Equipment Transmissions.
• Review/Aide supplemental support estimates such as, but not limited to, forestry, SCADA/IT network, fiber, testing and commissioning, and related
• Coordinate with other scoping and estimating team members, planning and protection engineering, sponsors, regional contacts and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff.
• Attend regional meetings with planning, protection and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates.
• Review/approve/reject estimate requests in OPPM.
• Build accurate project schedule timelines for substation and support estimates.

What We Require

• Ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload while communicating efficiently and effectively with internal and external clients.
• Solid understanding of engineering design / drawing packages.
• High school or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical degree is advantageous.
• 2+ years of either transmission design or estimating experience within the electric utility industry is required
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, specifically within Excel.

What We Prefer

• Sage Estimating software, Navigator, OPPM (Primavera P6), Google Earth.
• Experience with substation design, construction, and/or testing (aligned with estimating experience).
• Ability to mine and analyze data.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is highly preferred.
