Job summary

Duke Energy Florida is seeking a seasoned professional to oversee transmission permitting programs and coordinate with multiple agencies. You will provide technical solutions, manage contractor teams, and ensure timely permit submissions across local, state, federal, railroad, and FDOT processes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience in the field.
• 2+ years of related work experience if no degree.
• Experience obtaining and managing permits with governmental agencies preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in the utility industry preferred.
• Leadership in technical project management, program oversight, or governance preferred.
• Comfort speaking to internal and external groups about permitting and negotiating new processes.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Travel willingness: 5–15%.

• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Real Estate, contractors, and governmental agencies.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology
• In lieu of an associate’s degree, High School/GED and 2 years of related work experience
• Minimum of an Associate of Science in Engineering Technology, or 2+ years of experience without a degree
• Prior experience obtaining and managing permits with governmental agencies preferred
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Experience in the utility industry preferred
• Skills applying leadership in technical project management, program oversight, and/or governance preferred
• Comfort speaking to internal and external groups about permitting expertise and negotiating new processes and practices preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work with individuals from varied socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
• Willingness to travel 5–15%
