Job summary

AEP is seeking a Civil Engineer – Transmission Line Engineering to join our team in Oklahoma. This role focuses on applying engineering knowledge to safely and efficiently deliver transmission infrastructure.

You will design and evaluate transmission lines, foundations, and structures, using PLS-CADD, while collaborating across disciplines and supporting project schedules and budgets. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, reliability, and grid modernization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline in an ABET-accredited program.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in structural, geotechnical, or utility infrastructure design.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• EIT certification or progress toward licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and scope transmission line projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Select and evaluate transmission structure types.
• Review geotechnical reports and foundation recommendations.
• Design transmission structure foundations.
• Perform conductor tension, sag, and clearance evaluations.
• Develop transmission line designs using PLS-CADD.
• Support project scheduling, cost estimating, and project execution.
