Join to apply for the Transmission Line Engineer 2 role at GAI Consultants, Inc.

GAI is seeking an Engineer 2 (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Austin, TX. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems.

The Engineer 2 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI’s Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Complete day-to-day project tasks including preparation of specification packages, structural and fabrication drawings, design and analysis of transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower, design of foundations, and analysis of structures per applicable codes and standards.
2. Apply engineering principles to assist in designing Power Delivery Projects.
3. Ensure attention to detail and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Perform complex tasks following established processes and provide technical guidance to team members.
5. Manage multiple projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget adherence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• PE License required.
• 6+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Proficiency with PLS Suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE); experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD tools preferred.
• Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.
• Strong communication skills and experience in client engagement.
• Travel requirement: approximately 10%.
