Job summary

VHB is seeking a Transmission Line Designer Engineer to join our Energy Evolution Practice. The role focuses on distribution and/or transmission line design, supporting substation, distribution line, sub-transmission line, and transmission line project design, permitting, access, and construction support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a power/structures concentration.
• 3+ years utilities industry experience.
• EIT certification preferred; familiarity with NESC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
• Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
• Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
• Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

VHB is looking to add a designer/engineer with distribution and/or transmission line design experience to join our growing Energy Engineering practice. The position would be part of an integrated team supporting substation, distribution line, sub-transmission line, and transmission line project design, permitting, access, and construction support. The position can be based anywhere in VHB’s footprint and be within a reasonable driving distance to one of our offices to engage in our hybrid work environment

Responsibilities

• Support electric distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
• Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
• Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
• Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Skills And Attributes

• Strong project management skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to think critically.
• Experience with GIS Systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power preferred
• 3+ years preferred of experience within the utilities industry
• EIT certification preferred
• Familiar with the NESC a plus

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000 The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, location, education, and experience.
