Job summary

VHB seeks a Transmission Line Designer Engineer with energy discipline experience to support distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission line projects within our Energy Engineering team. Flexible location and hybrid work arrangement enable collaboration with an integrated, multidisciplinary group.

The role requires a B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering, 3+ years in utilities, and familiarity with GIS, PLS-CADD, Asset Management, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power preferred.
• 3+ years preferred of experience within the utilities industry.
• EIT certification preferred
• Familiar with the NESC a plus

Responsibilities

• Support electric distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
• Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
• Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
• Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Transmission Line Designer Engineer - Energy - Flexible location

VHB is looking to add a designer/engineer with distribution and/or transmission line design experience to join our growing Energy Engineering practice. The position would be part of an integrated team supporting substation, distribution line, sub-transmission line, and transmission line project design, permitting, access, and construction support. The position can be based anywhere in VHB’s footprint and be within a reasonable driving distance to one of our offices to engage in our hybrid work environment

Responsibilities

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Experience with GIS Systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000 The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, location, education, and experience.
