The IT Manager – Transmission Engineering Technology at American Electric Power leads strategy, delivery, and modernization of technology for the transmission engineering organization.

This role partners with planning, protection & control, substation engineering, line engineering, and telecommunications teams to provide reliable, secure, and scalable technology capabilities that support the end-to-end lifecycle of transmission projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive IT leadership experience.
• Experience supporting electric utility Transmission Engineering organizations.
• Strong understanding of transmission planning, engineering, design, and asset management processes.
• Experience managing enterprise application portfolios.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, system integration, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute technology strategy for Transmission Engineering.
• Build partnerships with engineering leadership to align priorities with business needs.
• Create multi-year roadmaps and drive standardization and modernization.
• Lead delivery and support for engineering tools, data analytics, and integrations.
• Manage portfolio, prioritize initiatives, and oversee project execution.
