Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a highly motivated engineering student to join our Transmission Engineering team for a summer internship. This internship provides hands-on exposure to surveying, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric transmission system that powers homes, businesses, and communities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Graduation date of 2028 or 2029.

Responsibilities

• Support transmission engineering projects involving high-voltage (33kV–230kV) lines and facilities.
• Bill of material development and material requisitions.
• Assist with PLS-CADD design & AutoCAD drawings.
• Review encroachment and T&D joint-use requests to meet Dominion's requirements.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Utilize engineering software (PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD), GIS tools, and MS Office to support project work.
• Participate in field visits to transmission lines, substations, and construction sites.
• Collaborate with engineers and operations teams on projects.
• Learn and apply Dominion Energy's safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.
