Job summary

AES Ohio Transmission Engineering is seeking a Fall 2027 Co-op in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering. The Co-op provides hands-on exposure to high‑voltage transmission facilities and cross‑functional collaboration with Substation, P&C, operations, and construction teams.

Under mentorship, you will participate in design tasks, field visits to verify topography and address engineering concerns, and learn to update prints, schematics, and system models using PLS-CADD, SolidWorks, and Excel.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a four-year degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
• Sophomore status or higher preferred
• Strong academic background, attention to detail, and teamwork encouraged
• Experience with design software such as PLS-CADD or SolidWorks and Excel preferred

Responsibilities

• Design high voltage transmission facilities to support system improvements and load growth
• Participate in field visits to verify topography and address engineering concerns
• Update discrepancies between prints, schematics, databases and system models
• Shadow and learn from multiple teams across Substation, P&C, operations and construction
