Job summary

Haydon Healy is seeking an experienced Transmission Engineer to support the design and delivery of high-voltage transmission projects across the United States. You will be involved from initial engineering through construction support on overhead and underground transmission infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of transmission engineering experience.
• Experience with high-voltage transmission line design.
• Strong experience with PLS-CADD or similar software.
• Understanding of transmission structures, conductors, foundations and clearances.
• Knowledge of applicable transmission standards and utility requirements.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• EIT required / PE preferred, depending on level.
• Overhead transmission experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer high-voltage transmission line projects
• Support route selection, structure spotting and conductor selection
• Perform sag & tension, clearance and structural loading calculations
• Develop engineering drawings, specifications and construction packages
• Work with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Support overhead and underground transmission projects
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams and other engineering disciplines
• Conduct site visits and provide field/construction support
• Review existing transmission infrastructure and recommend improvements
• Ensure designs comply with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ANSI and applicable utility standards
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers

About the Role

You’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial engineering and design through construction support, working on complex overhead and underground transmission infrastructure.
