Job summary

K&A Engineering in Binghamton, New York is seeking a Transmission Engineer to join our team. You will lead overall transmission line design for capital projects, using PLS-CAD, and ensure compliance with Avangrid TM and NESC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience within transmission lines
• Perform engineering responsibilities without assistance and minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Strong attention to detail, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving

• LiDAR and aerial photo data
• Use wetlands/vernal pools and sensitive resource data in line and structure design and placement
• Detailed estimate and probability modeling
• Other studies as required to complete projects
• Lead overall transmission line design for capital projects
• Review/Design transmission line plan and profile drawings using PLS-CAD to ensure compliance with Avangrid TM standards and NESC/other standards
• Drive project plan for transmission line routing and strategy, including ROW decisions and congestion considerations
• Determine required structure designs based on design constraints
• Determine routing around congested stations to optimize design and reliability

• Drive the project plan for transmission line routing and strategy, specifically:
  • Decide whether to rebuild existing lines or obtain additional right of way based on area congestion and local politics/permitting issues
  • Determine required structure designs based on design constraints
  • Determine routing in and around into congested stations to optimize design/reliability and minimize the number of crossings

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience within transmission lines
• Perform engineering responsibilities without assistance and minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures

Pay Range $95,000-$115,000/annually
