Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Transmission/Distribution Engineer in Training to contribute to power systems design and project deliverables. You’ll perform analyses, prepare drawings, estimates, and specifications while working with engineers and BIM specialists on ongoing projects.

Required is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and a strong commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. An EIT certificate is preferred or eligible for progression.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture. Aiming for EIT certification or already an EIT.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses to develop power‑related design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of project deliverables (drawings, cost estimates, and specifications).
• Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
• Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
• Work independently on small projects, or assist more‑senior engineers on larger projects.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, other Engineers In‑Training (EITs), Designers, or BIM Specialists as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
