Job summary

Appalachian Power Co. is seeking a Line Mechanic A to join our Logan WV service region. The role involves building on the Line Mechanic B foundation to install, inspect and maintain overhead and underground facilities, with supervision appropriate to the skill level.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and readiness to undergo a physical abilities assessment. This is a full-time on-site role within the company’s distribution network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Line work experience or line school education preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL required; CDL permit within 60 days.
• Ability to pass physical abilities assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Operate switches, reclosers and other devices under supervision as skill dictates.
• Test de-energized lines; ground and insulate equipment.
• Direct and supervise assigned helpers; complete monthly apprentice cards.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping and records; report irregularities.
