Job summary

Cayuse Language Connect, LLC is seeking a Translator to provide remote interpretation and translation services for education, legal, medical, and social services.

You will translate, transcribe spoken English, edit translations, and adapt content to diverse languages while respecting cultural contexts. On‑call work and project assignments may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with interpretting-related training or certification.
• Experience in medical/legal/educational translation preferred.
• Must be fluent in one or more listed languages.
• Pass background checks as required by clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat).

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate spoken work situations including lectures, conversations, and meetings.
• Transcribe spoken English using technology in some settings.
• Read originals and translate into target languages.
• Edit translated versions.
• Maintain cultural sensitivity during translation.

The Work

Translators will translate to agencies for individuals with a language barrier. Translation will consist of but not limited to Education, legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services, etc.

Languages we are looking for: Arabic, Cantonese, Farsi, German, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Mandarin, Nepali, Oromo, Portuguese, Romanian, Somali, Thai, Ukrainian, and Simplified/Traditional Chinese.

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings.

• Utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings.

• Reading an original document and translating it into the language required.

• Editing translated versions

• Will need to be sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience

• Medical Interpreting Training School

• Foreign Service Institute

• Legal Translation online certifications

• Certified Translation Professional (CPT)

• AOC

• ATA Certified

• NAJIT

• Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.

• Must be fluent in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Farsi, German, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Mandarin, Nepali, Oromo, Portuguese, Romanian, Somali, Thai, Ukrainian, and Simplified/Traditional Chinese.

• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

• The ability to facilitate communication with discretion and impartiality.

• Proficiency in oral and written communication

• A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics

• Strong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness

• The ability to track and remember information and concepts while simultaneously interpreting them.

• Physical stamina and dexterity for extended interpretation sessions

• Must possess problem‑solving skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.

• Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

• Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.

• Must be a Self‑starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Reports to: Deputy Program Manager

Working Conditions

• Professional remote environment.

• Must be able to be on‑call. Translator/Interpreter will be notified within 48 hours of potential jobs.

• Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.

• Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.

• Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.

• Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.

• May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.

• May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.

• May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
