Job summary

Cayuse Language Connect, LLC is seeking a Translator for remote work to translate materials for agencies across education, legal, medical, and social services. You will translate and edit documents, interpret conversations, and transcribe spoken English where required.

The role requires fluency in at least one of many listed languages and the ability to work independently. The position is a 1099 Independent Contractor with flexible hours and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Interpreting Training School
• Foreign Service Institute training
• Legal Translation online certifications
• Certified Translation Professional (CPT)
• ATA Certified
• Must be fluent in one or more listed languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Farsi, German, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Mandarin, Nepali, Oromo, Portuguese, Romanian, Somali, Thai, Ukrainian, and Simplified/Traditional Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings.
• Transcribe spoken English using technology in some settings.
• Read original documents and translate into target language.
• Edit translated versions.
• Maintain cultural sensitivity during translation process.
• Other duties as assigned.
