FPC Dallas is seeking a Transitional Director of Music to lead our music department and inspire a 30–40 member choir. The role directs worship planning for Sunday services, including 8:30 a.m. Chapel, Advent, Christmas, and Holy Week.

Collaboration with pastoral staff is essential to shape a vibrant liturgical voice. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Music or related degree, with 5+ years in worship leadership and experience in the Reformed tradition preferred.

Position SummaryFPC Dallas seeks a Transitional Director of Music who shares our expectation that good church music should be directional, leading us to places where it sounds to our souls as though every prayer has a chance to be heard; and be vibrational, as if trembling rhythmically, burdened by a weighty proclamation from God that all creation must immediately hear. As leader of the music department, including a 30–40-member choir and professional section leaders, the Director will engage and motivate staff across all program areas.Essential FunctionsCollaborate with pastoral staff in shaping the theological and musical character of worshipDirect the Chancel Choir in preparing for and leading worship at the 11:00 a.m. serviceCoordinate and plan musical leadership for the 8:30 a.m. Chapel serviceDirect and plan musical offerings for Advent, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, and other significant liturgical occasions when the church gathersCoordinate and provide musical leadership for all weddings and memorial servicesAttend meetings of the Worship Leadership Team and Worship CommitteeOversee the maintenance of the church’s music archives, supplies, and instrumentsSupervise music staff and coordinate volunteersManage the annual worship and music budget and provide timely payroll and expense reports to the Finance OfficeThe ideal candidate will have:Strong commitment to serving Christ in a diverse faith communityBachelor of Music, Bachelor of Sacred Music, or Bachelor of Music Education degree; advanced degrees and/or performance certificates in these areas preferredMinimum 5 years of training and experienceExperience in planning and leadership of worship in the Reformed tradition
