An established industry player is seeking a Transition Employment Specialist to enhance the employment transition system for youth with disabilities. This role focuses on teaching employability skills, facilitating work culture understanding, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support individuals in achieving their career and education goals. The Transition Employment Specialist, under the supervision of the IDD Supported Employment Program Administrator, will collaborate with diverse youth aged 16-22 with ID/DD and partners to enhance the employment transition system in Collin County. The goal is to increase the number of youths with disabilities pursuing and achieving post-secondary education, careers, and independent living goals. Responsibilities include teaching employability skills, facilitating understanding of work culture, networking with employers for work experiences, supporting individuals on work sites, and participating in collaboration meetings with schools, community resources, and employers.
Additional duties involve creating work experience and exploration activities through employer networking, providing pre-employment training aligned with Vocational Rehabilitation standards, hosting classes and workshops in partnership with local ISDs, engaging with individuals to provide customer service, supporting portfolio development, conducting presentations, attending collaboration meetings, maintaining communication with stakeholders, and ensuring timely documentation and billing in accordance with grant requirements.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation, Business, Marketing, or related Human Services (Preferred), OR
- High school diploma or GED with at least two years of experience working with students with disabilities, verified by pay statements or a verification letter, plus a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit, including 15 hours in related fields, OR
- 60 hours of college credit in related fields.
- Completion of an approved Job Coach / Job Skills Trainer Credential AND Job Placement Specialist Credential within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to complete all UNTWISE certifications and required CEUs to maintain certifications.

- Ability to work independently, organize tasks, and prioritize effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including billing documentation.
- Ability to develop employment opportunities and track deadlines.
- Ability to break down tasks into teachable steps and develop training plans.
- Proficiency with office equipment and technology.
- Capacity to manage frustration and serve individuals with diverse value systems.
- Ability to utilize professional supervision constructively.
