Job summary

State of Colorado's School for the Deaf is seeking an experienced educator to deliver standards-based instruction for 6th–12th grade Deaf/hard-of-hearing students, focusing on transition, college and career readiness. The role requires collaboration, IEP development, and strong ASL skills in a technology-rich environment.

As a case manager, you will develop and monitor IEPs, coordinate with co-teaching teams and service staff, and engage families through conferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or closely related field from an accredited college.
  • Master’s degree in Education or closely related field, with specialization in Deaf Education or Special Education; required within 3 years of hire.
  • Must hold or be eligible for substitute teacher licensure in Colorado upon hire.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Colorado educator licensure within 3 years, endorsed as Special Education Specialist: Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing or Generalist.
  • ASL proficiency at Intermediate level on hire; Advanced level within 2 years.
  • Knowledge of standards-based education for Deaf/hard-of-hearing students; effective use of technology in teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Provide standards-based instruction to Deaf/HH students using IEPs and Colorado standards.
  • Prepare lesson plans and lead class activities; maintain a positive, engaged classroom.
  • Collaborate in co-teaching teams and with service staff to develop and implement IEP objectives.
  • Develop, monitor and progress-track Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and attend IEP meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with Deaf/HH students and families; support literacy development.
