Job summary

The Research and Demonstration Associate at Virginia Commonwealth University’s CTI supports the mission to improve transition outcomes for students with disabilities. Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior experience in training and technical assistance in public school settings.
• Extensive knowledge of evidence-based transition practices that facilitate postschool employment, education, and/or community living for students with disabilities.
• Ability to travel regionally and overnight.
• Master’s degree in education, rehabilitation counseling or a related field/equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and technical assistance to educators and school divisions through presentations, coaching, and communities of practice.
• Coach division transition leaders on implementing research-based practices and high-leverage practices.
• Develop training materials such as course scripts, manuals, and educational resources for statewide learning.
• Collaborate with public schools and divisions to build capacity and improve services for transition-age students.
• Engage in research activities including recruitment, data collection, and dissemination.
• Coordinate with external partners including adult service agencies and educational entities.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational and live-presentation skills with timely responsiveness.
• Maintain teamwork and flexibility to accommodate changing activities.
