Job summary

VCU School of Education's Center on Transition Innovations (CTI) seeks a Research and Demonstration Associate to train and coach educators and school divisions, develop learning resources, and support statewide initiatives focused on transition services.

The role emphasizes collaboration with public schools, data collection, dissemination, and partnerships with adult service agencies, aiming to improve postsecondary outcomes for transition-age students.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences
• Master’s degree in education, rehabilitation counseling or a related field/equivalent training
• Extensive knowledge of evidence-based transition practices that facilitate postschool employment, education, and/or community living for students with disabilities
• Prior experience in training and technical assistance in public school settings
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to travel regionally and overnight

Responsibilities

• Support the mission of improving transition outcomes for students with disabilities through training and technical assistance activities
• Coach division transition leaders on implementing research-based practices and high leverage practices via presentations and communities of practice
• Develop training materials such as scripts, manuals, and resources for statewide learning on transition topics
• Collaborate with public schools and divisions to build capacity and improve services for transition-age students
• Engage in research activities including recruitment, data collection, and dissemination
• Communicate with external partners including adult service agencies and educational entities
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and live-presentation skills with teamwork and flexibility
