Job summary

The Arc of Madison County in Alabama seeks a Transition Center Skills Trainer to assess participant skills and provide training for successful program completion and transition to apprenticeship or direct hire.

Under supervision, you will deliver individualized support, job coaching, and essential workplace training at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama host site, focusing on communication, grooming, and behavior for employment readiness.

Qualifications

• Degree in related field preferred.
• GED or High School diploma required.
• Experience with development disabilities preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Computer skills including word processing, Excel and database.
• Customized Employment training is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support for participants at the host business training center across skills training, supports, and accommodations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, Arc of Madison County staff, TMMAL personnel, and families as needed.
• Perform job analysis, task analysis, and situational assessments to guide training.
• Implement training plans and support participants while standing/walking for extended periods.
• Collaborate with participants, families, and staff to resolve training and employment issues.
• Model positive behavior and teamwork, maintaining a professional attitude.
• Train participants in grooming, hygiene, interviewing, and workplace behavior.
• Contribute to selecting training strategies with supervisor and TMMAL staff.
