Through its professional development program, CWD offers a wide variety of industry-informed, skills-based courses and certificate programs, professional conferences and workshops, and non-credit-to-credit pathways for engaging adult and working learners with SUU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or two years of relevant work experience.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in adult education, career counseling, academic advising, or a related field.
• Experience working with non-traditional or adult learners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Advising adult learners in one-on-one settings, helping them design education plans to achieve their education and career goals and pathway milestones.
• Recruits adult learners into workforce education programs that align with regional economic focus areas.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for enrolled learners, providing ongoing connection and support throughout their educational journey.
• Tracks learner progress and makes data-informed recommendations to improve retention and success.
• Confers with employers, industry associations, and community partners to connect adult learners with job opportunities aligned with degree pathways.
• Coordinates with CWD marketing to ensure awareness of career and educational opportunities.
• Stays current on labor market trends, credentialing infrastructure, and articulation practices relevant to adult and working learner recruitment and degree transition.
• Performs administrative and other office duties as assigned.

Position Summary

SUU's Community & Workforce Development (CWD) is a dynamic and entrepreneurial department within the Workforce & Educational Opportunity Office. Through its professional development program, CWD offers a wide variety of industry-informed, skills-based courses and certificate programs, professional conferences and workshops, and non-credit-to-credit pathways for engaging adult and working learners with SUU. These offerings are focused on upskilling the workforce, responding to the needs of local employers, growing businesses and economic development opportunities, and elevating careers through ongoing learning opportunities. Additionally, CWD manages the SUU Leadership Institute and delivers leadership training to local, state, and national audiences. The Transition & Pathways Coordinator advises and recruits adult and working learners into workforce education programs, connects learners to career pathways through employer and industry engagement, and supports their transition into SUU degree and credential opportunities. This position is central to CWD's efforts to grow continuing education headcount and increase conversion of adult and working learners into SUU academic programs.

Essential Functions

• Advising, Recruitment, and Outreach- Advises adult learners in one-on-one settings, helping them design education plans to achieve their education and career goals and pathway milestones. Recruits adult learners into workforce education programs that align with regional economic focus areas.
• Student Support & Success- Serves as the primary point of contact for enrolled learners, providing ongoing connection and support throughout their educational journey. Addresses issues related to course access and the learner experience. Tracks learner progress and makes data-informed recommendations to improve retention and success.
• Connection to SUU Degree and Ongoing Learning Opportunities- Facilitates integration of professional education courses into broader academic programs. Supports course substitution and waiver forms and Degree Works as backup to on-campus advisors. Tracks matriculated learners and provides ongoing connection to SUU post-graduation for upskilling opportunities.
• Career Pathway Connections- Confers with employers, industry associations, and community partners to connect adult learners with job opportunities aligned with degree pathways. Conducts market research on industry sector skill needs and emerging career trends. Coordinates with CWD marketing to ensure awareness of career and educational opportunities. Participates in career fairs and other recruitment-related activities.
• Professional Development & Innovation- Stays current on labor market trends, credentialing infrastructure, and articulation practices relevant to adult and working learner recruitment and degree transition. Identifies and pilots innovations in outreach, advising, and pathway connection processes. Participates in relevant training aligned with advising and workforce education.
• Additional Duties- Performs administrative and other office duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or two years of relevant work experience
• At least 1-2 years of experience in adult education, career

counseling, academic advising, or a related field.

• Experience working with non-traditional or adult learners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to uild relationships with external partners (employers, community organizations, or similar)
• Strong public presentation skills.
• Familiarity with workforce development, labor market data, or industry sector analysis
• Experience with higher education advising, including degree articulation, transfer credit, or credential/badge systems.
• Knowledge of Banner, Slate, and/or Degree Works
• At least 3-5 years of experience in adult education, career counseling, academic advising, or a related field.
• Experience working with non-traditional or adult learners.
