Job summary

HART in Tampa, Florida is seeking a Technician Apprentice under the Transit Vehicle Maintenance program. This entry-level role reports to a Maintenance Supervisor and involves performing beginner-level maintenance and repairs on transit buses, mechanical equipment and vehicles powered by gasoline, CNG and diesel.

You will assist experienced mechanics, perform preventive maintenance, document work, and road-test vehicles after repair.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 10 days.
• Basic knowledge of diesel/gas engines, transmissions, and vehicle systems.
• Awareness of safety hazards and ability to work safely.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and work with varied personalities.
• Willingness to work varying shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform beginner-level maintenance and repairs on buses and equipment.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Road-test vehicles after repairs.
• Support more experienced mechanics with complex tasks.
• Maintain records of work performed.
• Perform field service calls as needed.
• Contribute to safety and quality procedures.
