Job summary

Connecticut Department of Transportation is seeking a Transit Technology Program Lead (Transportation Planner 2) to direct statewide transit technology initiatives from planning to deployment. The role collaborates with CTDOT leadership, operators, municipalities, and vendors to advance safer, more reliable transit systems.

The position leads technology planning, evaluation, and implementation, including procurement, testing, and ongoing operations, with telework eligibility after probation.

Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in transportation engineering or transportation planning.
  • One (1) year coordinating complex planning projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CTDOT's statewide transit technology strategies, plans, programs, and initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate technology initiatives across operations, planning, maintenance, IT, and other CTDOT functions to ensure feasibility and scalability.
  • Manage projects from concept through planning, procurement, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support; monitor performance and drive improvement.
  • Plan, evaluate, and deploy emerging transit technologies and innovative mobility solutions with attention to safety, reliability, and customer experience.
  • Provide systems engineering guidance for transit technology platforms and oversee procurement, vendor management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Analyze data to assess performance; prepare technical studies, reports, and dashboards; advise CTDOT leadership on policy and standards.
