Job summary

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) seeks a Director of Safety Assurance & Regulatory Compliance to lead the Safety Assurance program and ensure compliance with FRA, FTA, OSHA, NFPA, and PennDOT regulations across SEPTA’s multi-modal operations.

The role oversees internal audits, corrective actions, safety policy development, and risk management, guiding the organization toward continuous safety improvement and regulatory excellence in Philadelphia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, safety, or related discipline.
• Master’s degree in a Safety discipline preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated in safety programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic oversight of System Safety’s Internal Audit Program (IAP) and related activities.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with FRA, FTA, OSHA, NFPA, and PennDOT requirements.
• Oversees Rules Compliance programs and data analysis across SEPTA.
• Coordinates safety risk assessments and mitigation strategies across transit modes.
• Develops and implements a formal Mitigation Monitoring Program (MMP).
• Facilitates SSOA audits and RBI programs with PennDOT and external parties.
• Engages with Safety Risk Management and SSD stakeholders for continuous safety improvements.
• Leads cross-functional coordination and executive engagement for safety priorities.
