Job summary

SEPTA in the Philadelphia region seeks a Senior Director, System Safety (API & OS) to supervise the Accident Prevention & Investigation and Operations Safety departments and to ensure FRA compliance across all modes. You will lead safety programs, analyze data, and coordinate with unions and management to reduce hazards and incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety Management, Operations Management, Emergency Management, Transportation, Business Management, Quality Management, or related field.
• Fifteen (15) years' experience in System Safety, Transportation Operations, Occupational Safety, Environmental Compliance, or Emergency Management or equivalent EHS fields.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Strong knowledge of FRA, FTA, SSO, and NTSB regulations required.
• Experience in the Public Transportation Industry required.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish department goals and programs to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Coordinate safety programs across Accident Prevention & Investigation and Operations Safety.
• Manage budget planning and staffing for the department and ensure training.
• Utilize accident data to develop trends and drive prevention campaigns.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with FRA, FTA, NTSB and other agencies.
• Lead collaboration with unions, management, and other departments on safety initiatives.
