Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) invites you to join the Transit and Rail Co-op in Boston, MA for January–June 2027.

This program introduces students to professional practice through hands-on learning in a supportive yet challenging environment, with real-world exposure across transit planning, engineering, and operations analysis. As a co-op, you will collaborate with staff, assist in data mining and visualization, develop planning solutions, and gain field and report-writing experience.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, planning or a related field
• Strong interest in transportation, land development, urban design, real estate, environmental, institutional, or energy sector
• Ability to work on a computer remotely if necessary
• Ability to travel locally and complete fieldwork if necessary

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
• Assist in development of planning and engineering solutions
• Assist in data mining and visualization
• Perform analysis of data or calculations
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
• Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
