Job summary

The City of Bentonville seeks a Senior Transportation Executive to plan and direct engineering, street, airport, and public works activities. This role oversees budgeting, grant oversight, and capital projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local policies.

Responsibilities include long-range planning, design review, project estimation, and presenting reports to the Mayor and City Council. Strong leadership, communication, and public administration background required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering; six to ten years related experience and/or training.
• Five-plus years of progressively responsible public works maintenance experience in a management or supervisory level.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the operations of the Engineering, Street, Airport and Public Works Maintenance departments.
• Oversight of local Bus Transit program, along with the oversight of Federal, State, Regional, and local grants.
• Prepares reviews and adjusts the annual operating budgets of the Engineering Street, Airport and Public Works Maintenance departments, and bond capital projects.
• Plans, oversees, develops, implements, and monitors long-term plans, goals, and objectives focused on achieving the City’s mission and City Council’s priorities.
• Oversees the planning, design, construction and estimating of official City public works projects such as arterial collectors, and local streets, transportation facilities, public structures, municipal airport projects, and storm water systems.
