Job summary

The Metropolitan Council's Metro Transit Police Department is hiring part-time Community Service Officers to support operations with a visible presence and public safety role. This non-sworn, uniformed position offers benefits eligibility and tuition reimbursement to help students pursue their education.

CSOs perform crowd control, fare surveillance, clerical tasks, and basic safety duties at events and transit hubs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program seeking a degree in a Law Enforcement related field
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to work a minimum of 20-25 hours per week
• Knowledge of basic safety rules and procedures; able to read and interpret documents

Responsibilities

• Perform pedestrian/crowd control at large events and at light rail stations
• Assist sworn officers with fare inspections and security duties
• Provide clerical and maintenance support as needed
• May transport evidence or paperwork and complete police reports not requiring a sworn officer
• Perform other duties as assigned
