The City of Madison is seeking an entry-level Transit Procurement Specialist to support purchasing, grants, and capital projects under the Transit Finance Manager. The role offers pathways from Specialist 1 to 3 as experience grows and advancement occurs over two years per level.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible purchasing experience.
  • Proficiency in purchasing related computer software programs.
  • Degree in Procurement, Acquisitions, Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing or closely related field; AND One (1) year of progressively responsible purchasing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in or lead purchasing activities: prepare solicitation documents and coordinate related procurement processes such as posting, responding to questions, tracking submissions, scheduling evaluation meetings, compiling and summarizing proposal information
  • Research vendors and available goods and services, gather pricing, availability, and product information to support purchasing decisions
  • Prepare contract documents, route for review and signature, and track dates
  • Create and maintain purchase orders, review purchase requests for accuracy, budget availability, and required documentation
  • Maintain complete purchasing and contract files that meet City, State, and Federal Transit Administration record retention and audit requirements
  • Apply City, State, and Federal purchasing requirements to route purchasing action
  • Assist in all grant related activities and serve as back up to the grants accountant
  • Perform related work as assigned

Degree in Procurement, Acquisitions, Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing or closely related field
Two years of progressively responsible purchasing experience
Four years of progressively responsible purchasing experience
