The City of Madison is seeking entry-level Transit Procurement Specialists to support purchasing, grants, and capital projects under the Transit Finance Manager. The role progression from Specialist 1 to Specialist 2, then to Specialist 3 reflects career development and increasing independence over time.
Specialist 1 and 2 have structured salary levels: $73,004.10 starting for Specialist 1 and $79,185.60 starting for Specialist 2, with progression and classification based on qualifications.
This is responsible, professional entry-level procurement/purchasing and accounting work supporting Metro Transit's purchasing, grants, and capital projects. Work includes preparing solicitation and contract documents, processing purchase requests, maintaining procurement and contract records, and supporting grant and capital project accounting and reporting. Work is performed under the direction of the Transit Finance Manager.
This series is structured to provide advancement from Transit Procurement Specialist 1 to Transit Procurement Specialist 2 and then to Transit Procurement Specialist 3 as a function of the employee's career development and generally occurs after two years gaining experience, mastery and greater independence at each level.
Transit Procurement Specialist 1 starting salary is $73,004.10;
Transit Procurement Specialist 2 starting salary is $79,185.60. Classification level will be determined at the time of hire and will be based on the candidate's overall qualifications.
Employees may be eligible for loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
