Job summary

El Dorado County Transit Authority is seeking a qualified Transit Operator to operate buses, vans and passenger cars, ensuring safe and reliable service. You will assist riders, including those with disabilities, and perform daily inspections to maintain vehicle safety and readiness.

The role requires strong customer service, clear communication, and the ability to follow schedules, safety protocols and emergency procedures while on the road.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade and six months of experience driving vehicles.
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License with a clean driving record; ability to obtain a Class B license within 90 days.
• Ability to obtain a Verification Transit Training (VTT) certification with passenger endorsement within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate a diverse range of vehicles to provide scheduled, special and dial-a-ride transit services.
• Assist disabled passengers in boarding and disembarking using specialized equipment.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment for safe operating conditions and report maintenance needs.
