Job summary

Alexandria Transit is hiring a driver to transport passengers along established routes on a fixed schedule. You will operate a 35,000 pound vehicle, ensuring safety, punctuality, and courteous service while collecting fares and assisting passengers with diverse needs.

Preferred candidates will have a High School diploma or GED and a valid Class B CDL with passenger and air brakes endorsements. Prior transit experience is a plus; ADA van operation may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires a High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Class B CDL with passenger and air brakes endorsements within 60 days of hire.
• Prior experience operating large passenger vehicles or in transit is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates a 35,000 pound vehicle on established routes according to a time schedule.
• Drives safely, maintains vehicle control and obeys traffic regulations.
• Provides good customer service and assists passengers in a courteous, responsible, and informative manner.
• Collects fares and interacts with diverse passengers.
• Reports delays, mechanical problems and accidents; responds to emergencies.
• Completes daily records and logs and receives safety information.
• May operate an ADA accessible van.
