Job summary

Transdev North America in Phoenix West is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to help supervise maintenance and repair of fixed‑route, circulator, and support vehicles.

You will assist the Maintenance Manager in overseeing about 180 vehicles and 75 maintenance staff, lead teams, liaise with employees and customers, and ensure timely, safe repairs. This role rewards safety, service, and dependable leadership.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years’ experience dealing with heavy equipment, preferably experience with CNG transit buses.
• Experience working with Unions in the transportation industry.
• Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
• Experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
• Solid computer skills in standard office tools including word processing and spreadsheet software and use of web-based systems.
• Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
• Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff.
• Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Manage equipment, parts and supplies inventories.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment history.
• Input data into maintenance software database ensuring the accuracy and timeliness for reporting purposes.
• Assist in the procurement of parts and the management of parts inventory.
• Demonstrates behaviors that are consistent with standards for professional and ethical conduct.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance department.
