Job summary

BART, located in Oakland, is seeking an experienced Project Manager, Construction to lead a portfolio of infrastructure renewal and expansion projects, including systemwide facilities modernization, traction power and station improvements. The role requires managing design through construction, budgets, schedules, risk, and contractor performance in a safety-critical transit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of full-time verifiable professional experience in construction contracts and administration, project management or related fields.
• Substitution: additional professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and supports project team on design and construction efforts.
• Develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures in the assigned project areas; administers conformance to District policies and procedures.
• Plans, organizes, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of staff and contract consultants.
• Directs or participates in the preparation and review of designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates; ensures conformance with District standards.
• Oversees contractor and consultant contracts; develops scope of work; prepares RFIs/RFPs; monitors work to ensure contractual obligations.
• Performs construction project management duties; monitors budgets and schedules; conducts field inspections; approves contract changes.
• Serves as project liaison with divisions, departments and outside agencies; provides periodic status reports.
