Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Transportation/Transit Engineer – Project Manager to be based in Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, or Nashville, TN. The role leads multi-disciplinary transit projects, drives delivery, and supports business development across the region.

The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration to shape the future of transit infrastructure nationwide, including light rail, BRT, and commuter rail initiatives.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• PE or P.Eng. license required.
• Experience with transit infrastructure design (LRT/BRT/commuter rail).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to support multi-disciplinary teams and business development.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager and Technical Lead on transit projects across multiple disciplines.
• Oversee planning, design, and delivery of multimodal/transit infrastructure.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders for project execution.
• Provide QA and ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Support engineering budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff; represent the firm at industry events.
