Urban Engineers, Inc. in Mechanicsburg seeks an experienced Facilities Construction Inspector to lead daily field oversight on transit facility projects in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. You will interpret plans, coordinate with design teams, and ensure adherence to PennDOT standards.

This client-facing role requires 10–15 years of inspection experience, NICET/OSHA credentials, and proficiency with field-doc platforms and QA/QC testing. Travel to sites will be required.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of construction inspection experience, geotechnical, transit, industrial, or heavy civil/vertical building work.
• PennDOT or transit agency inspection experience preferred.
• NICET III/IV in Highway/Transportation Construction, engineering degree, or equivalent.
• Valid PA driver's license and OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Proficient with field documentation platforms (ECMS, PPCC, CDS NextGen, KAHUA, Procore).
• NECEPT Concrete/Bituminous and ACI certifications preferred.
• Experience with bus/rail fleet facility construction and MEP work.
• Familiarity with utility coordination (PPL, Verizon, UGI).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily inspection of site activities: sitework, foundations, structural steel, building envelope, MEP, and transit systems.
• Interpret contract documents; issue clarifications and resolve constructability issues with design engineer.
• Oversee QA/QC materials testing; coordinate with independent labs.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, photos, and diaries as per standards.
• Track RFIs, submittals, NCRs, and change orders; recommend corrective action.
• Review pay applications against installed quantities; support commissioning and close-out.
